Come "Back Home Again in Indiana" for the 102nd Running of the Indianapolis 500

They don’t call it “the greatest spectacle in racing” for no reason – the Indianapolis 500 is truly an experience all Hoosiers (and visitors!) must witness. Whether it’s the race itself, or the events leading up to the big day, there is plenty to celebrate in Indianapolis during the month of May!

Not just IndyCars, people race, too!

Yes – Indianapolis loves their IndyCar racing, but they also love the Indy Mini-Marathon. As one of the nation’s largest half marathons, this is an Indy 500 tradition you won’t want to miss.

Over 35,000 runners, joggers, walkers and wheelchair racers make their 13.1-mile trek to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and even kneel to kiss the bricks once they’ve completed the course. While you can still register to participate in the Mini, support is also needed on the sidelines. Come out to the course on May 5 and cheer on the racers!

Kick off May with the IndyCar Grand Prix

On May 12, the City of Indianapolis will get a sneak peak before the big race on May 27. The drivers of the IndyCar Series take on the IMS Road Course for the Grand Prix. It’s an event the whole family can enjoy, with autograph sessions, a post-race track invasion and more. Get your tickets here.

Enjoy a day at the track

If you’re looking to experience the Indy 500 without the crowds, consider coming out during a practice viewing between May 15-18 or on May 21. This is a great option if you’re taking the entire family, as children 15 and under are free with a paying adult. More info can be found here.

It’s a party – Miller Lite Carb Day

We’re not talking carbs as in bread (although those are good, too!), we’re talking about the Miller Lite Carb Day at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on May 25. Carb Day is essentially the last practice before the big race and a chance to celebrate with live music and high speeds. It’s a great tradition before Sunday’s big race.

Attend one of the nation’s premier parades

It’s the party of all parties: the 2018 IPL 500 Festival Parade. Over 300,000 spectators are expected to line the streets of Indy on May 26. Even if you can’t attend any events at the track, this is a great way to celebrate and show your Indy 500 pride. Click here for more info.

The Greatest Spectacle in Racing

Drum roll please…the main event and race Indianapolens have been waiting for, the Indianapolis 500, will happen on May 27! Thirty-three drivers will race 200 laps around the track at a total of 500 whopping miles. Get your tickets here.
